Holt's Homecoming

After 2 days in the hospital and severe lack of sleep, we decided to come home a day early.  Once our mind was made up, it seemed as though it took us all day to get ready to leave!  After saying our good-byes to Ann, we loaded up our special package and headed home.

Up until Holt's birthday, the Memphis weather had been very mild (70's), but it turned very cold during our stint in the hospital.  It was a crisp 58 degrees on the way home.  He slept the entire drive home and never made a peep.  Had we been anymore deliriously tired, it is quite possible we could have forgotten him in the car altogther.  (not really)  Dad and I enjoyed a quiet evening at home adjusting to our newest little "H".  Since we decided at the last minute to come home a day early, Grandma and Grandpa had already promised all the other H's that they would be going to the hockey game that night.  Instead of spoiling the kids' fun, we decided to continue with the original plans and allow them to go to the hockey game and spend one final night with the grandparents.

We didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night (which is to be expected with a newborn) but at least we were in our own bed!  Not to mention, there was no one coming in my room every 3 hours, just as I started to doze off, to check my blood pressure.

Early the next morning we headed to the Schwartz's.  We couldn't wait to have our entire family back together!  When we arrived, the kids were sitting at the kitchen table eating Indiana donuts.  As soon as they noticed Holt had also come, they all quickly hopped down and scurried over to his carseat.

There was a point at which the entire opening of Holt's carrier was filled with little H heads.  Holt was sound asleep and completely unaware of his fan club.  "That's my brother!" Hawkins proudly announces, in his adorable 2 year old way.
