Well, it is 16 days until Christmas and we have failed to mail our Christmas lists to Santa. If you remember from a previous post, we did go visit Santa in the mall after we created Boom Boom. But because my children know that he is not the real Santa but just a helper to Santa, they felt the message might not get delivered. Good thing Dad has a direct line to Santa--for emergency purposes only!!
As we sat around the dinner table tonight, Dad announced that Santa had texted him today, wondering where the Schwartz boys' lists were. Completely puzzled that Santa is capable of such technological advances, Hayes questioned why Santa would text him. "Well, you see, Santa needs your list! There are not many days left for his elves to make the toys and have them here for you guys on Christmas morning", Adam explained. Then he told them that Santa had requested that we call him at exactly 7:30 tonight. The boys could not believe it! A phone call to Santa?!
At exactly 7:30, we all piled onto our bed for the most important phone call.
Dad dialed the North Pole on the speakerphone for all to hear, "Merry Christmas, how may I direct your call?"
"Santa Claus, please." he said.
"One moment."
Then the moment they could not believe! "Ho ho ho!" the jolly old man said. Houston & Hayes' jaws literally dropped in amazement. Adam passed the phone to Houston as Hayes giggled giddily. No longer on speakerphone, we could only hear Houston's side of the conversation. Nervously, "The North Pole. Rudolph." And then the all important Christmas list..."a Bakugan game and everything Pokemon." Houston later explained to us that Santa was testing him at first to see how much he knew about Santa.
As Hayes' turn approached, he became increasingly anxious. Excitedly and still giggling, Hayes also answers Santa's questions and proceeds with his list. "A blue dog, a boat, and a bear with Batman."
Once Hayes was done, Hawkins grabbed the phone from Hayes. Without even a hello or hesitation, he immediately starts spouting off his Christmas list. Each item was preceeded with "I want". He listed a firetruck, a boat, a bear, etc. Who could even remember it all--other than Santa. And after all that, surprisingly, he forgot all about the bag of powdered donuts!
We all wished Santa a Merry Christmas and he ho ho ho'd off the phone.
Hopefully, Santa keeps up with our blog because I did not get a chance to tell him my Christmas wish. Santa, I would like my nearly 3 year old son potty trained.
